It’s the equinox today. Equal light, equal dark, nothing negotiated down. Fitting, because Venus retrograde doesn’t begin until October 3rd and her shadow is already running the room.

I posted a reel last week. It was about being the first in my bloodline to do something with my psychic gifts rather than carry them quietly into the ground. Within 24 hours: a man calling me schizophrenic. Another suggesting I come from a family of grifters. Someone using “real job” in quotes as though that would find something worth wounding.
I’ve been here before. Just over a year ago, I posted about earning my black belt and spent months being told, in escalating creative ways, that I wasn’t legitimate. That one was harder. This one wasn’t. And I’ve been sitting with why.
This is what I call the Illusion of Drama.
The Illusion of Drama is one of the relationship patterns I teach inside Illusions of Relationship™. It shows up when we are in the middle of a genuine shift, personally or collectively, and something outside us creates noise loud enough to pull our attention away from what’s actually happening. It can look like a conflict, a provocation, an attack, an unexpected disruption, or a situation that suddenly demands all of our energy and focus.
The Illusion of Drama wants one of two things. It wants you to engage with it directly, to defend yourself, to fight back, to spend your energy proving something to people who were never going to hear you anyway. Or it wants you to shrink, to decide you’re on the wrong path, to go quiet, to make yourself smaller so the friction stops.
What it doesn’t want is for you to see it clearly, name it, and keep moving.
That’s what I did this week. The comments happened. I’m still here. And I’m writing you this letter.
Venus in Scorpio retrograde is about exactly this: what lives in shadow, in the unseen, in the things people can’t face in themselves and therefore come for in someone else. The men in my comments aren’t a disruption to my path. They’re a signal that I’m walking it. When what you’re doing causes that particular kind of friction, you are touching something real.
This matters for you too, right now, because Venus retrograde is not just an outer event. It surfaces what’s already operating underneath in your own relationships and dynamics. The thing you’ve been almost naming. The pattern that keeps showing up in slightly different costumes. The dynamic with someone important to you that has been asking for a clearer look for longer than you’ve been comfortable giving it.
This retrograde wants you to see it. The question is whether you’re willing to look.
