Where is the sun setting in your life? (A tomb, a Goddess of the Dead, and the unexpected sunrise)

In my meditation today, two questions came into my awareness:

Where is the sun setting in your life?

Where is the sun rising in your life?

Before these questions emerged, I had been swimming in a long rectangle-shaped pool. It was just me, and the colors were different shades of purple and pink. At one point, I stopped doing laps and looked up to the sky. In this moment of relaxation, it became dark. In the darkness, I realized I was in a tomb, and the top of it had been shut. I felt my body being pulled down into the underworld, only to emerge before the golden light of a Goddess of the Dead. When I stopped flailing, I felt the energies of acceptance, joy, and even flow move through my body. I gathered myself and bowed my head.

It was then that the first question arrived: Where is the sun setting in your life?

I suppose every sunset is the death of the day and the beginning of the night. As I recounted the different chapters for me that had ended — even the books that had come to a close — instead of feeling grief or guilt, both emotions I am well-acquainted with, I felt liberation. When I surrender to the beauty of letting go, I can enjoy the artwork of Spirit.

I then saw that it wasn’t the actual relationships or collaborations that the sun was setting on — it was more an identity of mine that was ready to be put to rest. And not in a kill-your-ego kind of way, but in a do less, we already lived this kind of way.

This visual came up: I was playing dodgeball in my energy field, except I wasn’t the one throwing the balls, and I wasn’t the one dodging them either — I was the goalie. Guarding my energy field, catching the impact of thoughts directed at me, or judgments I held about others’ choices. In the game, I would take it personally that there are circumstances out of my control, while also remembering that we all have agency to make whatever decisions we want. And who am I to judge?

It was a lot, and it was keeping me from being present. At some point, my devotion had become vigilance. The boundaries were too high. It was like having an overactive security system in your home — where if you walked just a little heavier than usual, the alarm would sound. An excellent security system, but wow, it’s too much.

I saw how hard this part of me was working to protect me, to manage me, to keep me safe from the energies around me. I watched this version of myself with love, thinking, girl, you have been doing too much. As I laughed, I noticed how much I loved the part of me that takes things too personally, the part who cares so very much — and I can feel that love and gratitude without having to continue the same pattern.

I saw the huge distraction of it all, and how draining it was — doing another’s work for them, and taking myself off the path of doing my own. Noticing how my body would shrink in the presence of others, like I couldn’t be myself around them — and noticing how silly it was to even think I had to prove I was myself at all.

When it came down to it, it was noticing the unconscious performance of it all. The performance of doing a really good job of managing my energy — something that was once a great thing — had gotten a little too meticulous. Sometimes we really need to let things flow and leave on their own. Emotions are just weather. We don’t have to board up the windows every time it rains.

I didn’t even realize it at the time, but in working too hard, I was trying to keep up patterns I once began to help me feel, notice, and trust my truth. This gave me immense skill in reading energy — but now I’m connected to other parts of myself that can do the same thing with much less drama, and a better use of my psychic effort.

As the sun sets on an identity attached to effort and the Illusion of Perfection, I feel my bandwidth grow for what rises in my life.

What is rising in my life?

Well, I’m not entirely sure—I let go of the identity that tried to manage uncertainty and figure everything out a while back. What I do know is that this sunrise feels like deeper trust, and the ease of paying attention to where my energy wants to go—and noticing when it’s working far too hard.

What’s rising and setting in your life? Leave a comment and let me know.

Lauren

P.S. If you’d like to continue this conversation, join me for Temple Steps on Wednesday, August 12 at 6 PM CST / 5 PM MDT / 4 PM PST / 7 PM EST — the day of a solar eclipse in Leo. We’ll explore what’s rising, what’s setting, connect with the animal kingdom, and share some card pulls too.

My Junior said absolutely not: Spirit asked me to go off book, live, in front of everyone. Here’s what happened next:

It was one of those moments where you think you know what you are doing — only to have everything change when you are in the middle of it. It was during my first gathering of the Temple Steps. I had a general outline of what I was going to do. I thought we would follow a similar format to our previous online gatherings, but something shifted.

After Pig Spirit joined us and shared about the Illusion of Control — the Illusion of Relationship™ that separates us from Love by urging us to “stay in charge” — something in me knew exactly what was coming.

So yes, while I know this intellectually, and while I teach the Illusions of Relationship™, my Junior (the word I call the ego) did not like it when Spirit asked me to go “off book” and facilitate a channeled, spontaneous energy healing for our group — for all of those who attended live, as well as those who will tune in later.

I did not like that one bit. 😆

When I pull tarot cards, I respond in the moment — I catch the message and channel that way. It is safer. I have something to look at, feel, and riff off of. But to just close my eyes and trust — publicly, live, and on the spot — that was the medicine of breaking free of the Illusion of Control.

The collective grid healing we received was guided by Pig Spirit and Starfish Spirit, who asked us to open our hearts. If you watch the replay, that healing is still there for you to receive.

What would that look like for you? What would it feel like to drop the mask in your work persona, your relationship dynamic, or in how you relate to your purpose?

All of us who received the healing were offered medicine and a key — something totally unique to each of us as soul beings.

What is yours?

Find out when you watch the replay, and maybe let me know in the comments on YouTube, post your awareness in our Clarity Temple community, or try commenting here.

Tune in and watch the replay of our first Temple Steps gathering here.

We will meet again on the Temple Steps on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 — the day of the Solar Eclipse in Leo. There is a chance we may have two meetings in August, since it is eclipse season.

We will see!

The Ellipsis (The message Spirit kept repeating…and the unexpected place it led me.)

When you want something with all your heart…the Universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.

-Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

Notice the ellipsis in the quote above? Yeah, me too.

It’s the missing piece, but we will get there in due time. I am taking you on a gentle tour of my mind and letting you in on my musings.

OK, obviously this quote has always resonated with me. The first time I read The Alchemist, I was about a year into my first spiritual awakening and I could not believe how absolutely touched I was by the truth pouring through the pages. It seemed I read the book with my hand on my heart the whole time—it was almost like a pledge of allegiance to myself—to always be true to myself, as that was the biggest treasure.

Being true to myself has been a path of devotion of sorts—not from a place of Me, Me, MEEEEEE but from the intention of staying connected to Source and listening. Listening for the patterns and the opportunities for discernment have become a significant part of my day-to-day.

In my listening, there was a message that continued to persist. It was not something that was new to me. I had heard it before and quite often—only this time it hit a little differently.

So on the surface the message kind of pointed to the idea that maybe the thing we think we want and never seem to get—or we get disappointing versions of it—maybe—just maybe: we do not actually want the thing itself.

If you are reading this and notice some tension in this statement, stay with me. This is not the full story. We are taking the scenic route to the deeper part of the message—one that comes to us through my relationship with the Spirit of Guilt.

So remember the quote at the beginning of our journey here? Here’s the whole quote:

When you want something with all your heart, that’s when you are closest to the Soul of the World. And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.

-Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

The Soul of the World was the missing piece.

As I tuned into what it would mean to be closer to the soul of the world, I found myself asking a different question: What actually nourishes me? The question led me somewhere I was not expecting.

Recently, I found myself in conversation with the Spirit of Guilt—a recurring character in my relationship with the Soul of the World. Here is how it happened:

Every time I would go to my computer to work on my book, I would immediately start to feel tired. I would do my best to fight my way through that; once the coffee was brewing I would start to obsess about all of the other “important things” I was not doing…. Yeah, apparently the Spirit of Guilt and I had become quite the duo—experts at hashing out all of my failings together.

Well, one of these “failings” was that I had been inconsistent with the physical aspects of my Kung Fu practice. Thinking about that would of course allow Junior (that’s the word I use for the ego) and the Spirit of Guilt to succeed in taking away my desire to write or to go to class.

Instead, my mental and emotional energy just focused on my failings and it took a lot of work to give myself grace, lol, about why it was ok that I was not doing those things—such as I had been traveling several times since I got my black belt, my dog had passed away, etc. Why am I even listing them? I think just to give you a real example of how we can get in our own way.

Anyway, it was pretty draining.

But just recently I saw that while I wanted to complete the book with all my heart, my Junior—with the Spirit of Guilt’s help—was more focused on wanting to give my Kung Fu practice the same level of precision, time, and care that I gave it in the year and a half leading up to my black belt. I realized I wasn’t just feeling guilty. I was trying to recreate an old version of myself—one whose life had room to devote hours every week to earning a black belt.

That’s what I call the Illusion of Absorption.

As I stayed in stillness and listened, I marveled at how the Illusion of Absorption loves to default into old settings—settings that served us well for some time. Are we all just robots with programs? (That might be a letter for another day.)

Maybe the Universe was conspiring to show me how I limited my creativity and what I needed to do to adjust my expectations and redirect my energy.

Now, instead of doing mental gymnastics about Kung Fu, I’m guided to direct that same devotion toward finishing my book, writing, and serving my clients and the Love Renegades community.

One of the first things to emerge from that shift is The Temple Steps—an online gathering where we’ll pause, listen, and practice seeing differently.

In a Temple Steps Gathering, we will explore:

-An Illusion of Relationship™ that is asking to be seen
-the energies at play
-collective reading and healing
-messages from the animal kingdom
-card pull for select live participants

A Threshold Reading for This Sagittarius Blue Moon 🌕

This Sagittarius Full Moon / Blue Moon portal called for something special.

This one feels big. Like a genuine threshold.

Sagittarius carries codes of expansion, truth, divine adventure — and this blue moon is amplifying all of it. It’s asking us to get honest about where we’ve been playing small, where we’ve been investing in our nightmares instead of our dreams, and where we’re finally ready to stretch into the next version of ourselves.

As I shared in the reading, my husband and I are in the middle of our own grand adventure — traveling through Los Angeles, China, Tibet, Ireland, and New York. And honestly? I set this intention during the December Solstice. I said I wanted at least two international trips this year… and wow. Here we are. The energetic terrain is matching the inner work.

That’s what Sagittarius does. It brings the proof.

In this threshold reading, I pulled cards across three questions:

🌕 What have we learned?

🌕 What are we integrating right now?

🌕 What is becoming possible?

The messages that came through touched on dreams and manifestation, transparency and authenticity, passion and emotional truth, creativity and abundance — and how to move through the friendly plot twists of disappointment and change without losing the thread.

One question that really landed as I was reading:

Are we investing in our nightmares or our dreams?

That one is alive right now. Your junior might have some feelings about it. Let it.

September Clarity Portal: Illusion of Perfection to Divinely Perfect

Watch me channel this healing transmission: https://youtu.be/fPHWyiB2Lk0

I am experiencing the ocean. I am experiencing the ebb and flow. This shows me that you may be feeling stuck. That you may be experiencing an illusion of unworthiness. Taking the details of life, that ebb and that flow out of context–to think that just bc something isn’t flowing at the lightning speed that you want—that there is a judgment there.

Yet, it’s during this time when you feel stuck––it’s almost as if there is this running river and everything is flowing and flowing flowing and you are just grasping onto this rock bc you don’t want ot be taken in by the tide.

This speaks to how even though we can desire something or ask the universe for something, we need it to come in at a gentle pace bc if it comes in too fast—we can feel afraid.

In this month of September, you may notice some inner judgments, some criticisms, some perfectionist tendencies that you may be used to or may these tendencies show themselves every now and then.

This illusion of perfection is perfect as we are in this time of Virgo. So while you desire to improve adn step into the fullness of who you are. Know that when you step into this fullness, you are also showing up bigger and brighter for others,.

You are turning into a lighthouse. Yes, this can feel overwhelming and yes your Junior may try to tell you that you are stuck. Please know taht this is a anillusion.

You cannot be stuck if you allow yourself to flow with life.

So as we go back to that image of the ocean, with that ebb and flow and the image of the river flowering and winding—you are asked to trust in the uncertainty, to surrender to the flow—trusting that you will not drown. That you will not be overwhelmed.

Feel that welm. Yes, even joy can feel overwhelming. We can stop it so that we do not have to feel that surge of joy.

What we ask you to do this september is to let go. To let go and trust. Release the need to control. To release for things to be perfection. As perfection goes beyond the limits of your mind.

Just bc something isn;r taking place in the way that youw ant, doesn’t mean it is not taking place.

So if you will open your heart to receive this blessing trust. We ask that you allow yourself to be filled with this energy of trust. To allow the Divine to gently cradle you s you flow down that river. Allow yourself to enjoy that ebb and flow and that movement of the ocean—for this an extension of you.

August Clarity Portal: Illusions of competition and conformity

For the last several weeks I have received psychic nudges and external signs from the Universe to film myself in a trance-like state, as I access my very own clarity portal. It feels vulnerable to do this, but when the time was right, I acted upon the guidance.

The result of this contains a sacred healing transmission and an energy blessing to support you in the month of August 2022. Here is an excerpt from the beginning of the video:

“I notice that within this month, perhaps because it is the month of Leo, a lot of people are fighting for the spotlight, fighting to be heard, and they really want to be seen. This is a time to honor your heart. What does this mean? It means that this is a month to do what supports your inner joy. In August, we want you to be aware of society’s conditioning and what it means to follow your heart. What makes you whole may be different from what you see in the media. This is a time to shine the cosmic spotlight onto yourself so that you may be revealed.”

As I reflect on this message from the August clarity portal, I find themes of competition, conformity, and what it means to allow your true essence to shine.

With social media, we see that we are in a time where it is really apparent that so many people want their opinion to matter and not only that, they are seeking external validation only for their opinion and putting other people in boxes who do not appear to share the same values and opinions. While it is important to be aware of our own preferences, sometimes we can block ourselves from seeing and hearing clearly when we are too attached to our thoughts, opinions, and emotions.

Spirit is asking us to turn the Cosmic spotlight away from other people onto ourselves so that we may see how we are really showing up and whether [or not] we are living from a sense of love, wholeness, and authentic self-expression, or if we are caught up in the illusions of competition and conformity.

My favorite part of the video is the energy blessing that comes toward the end of the video. This blessing brings us back to truth, wholeness, and peace.
